"William Anderson, son of Thomas Emberson, came to South Monaghan in 1847 at age twenty-two to join his aunt and uncle William Emberson Sr. and his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Anderson, on their farm on Lot 14, Con 2. William Jr's parents had died when he was a boy and William and Betty became his surrogate parents, while his brother went to live with another aunt and uncle. William Sr. and his wife preceded William Jr. in the township by several years."
