note the letter from J. Herdman, the cemetery caretaker in Parry Sound indicates that John Cripps died in 1899 at age 56 which indicates a birth of about 1843. This however doesn't match the 1891 census record which shows an age of only 35 in 1891 which indicates a birth of about 1856. perhaps the caretaker didnt read the information correctly. Perhaps it said that he was born in 1856 rather than being age 56. jca.. (now seems that John Cripps was older than he said on the 1891 census.. 1881 census says he is age 33. so born abt 1848 which agrees with the 1871 census showing age 22. ..jca Oct 23, 2001)
