1850 Census record , District #7, County of Boone, Indiana Aug, 16, 1850
dwelling # 628, Isaac Cox and wife Rachael, with seven children living right next door to
David Moffitt and Rachael Cox in dwelling # 629, is
Isaac Cox, age 50 , farmer born N. Carolina

Jeremiah (male) age 19 b. N. Carolina, Moses (male) age 17 b. N. Carolina, Mary (female) age 12 b. Indiana, Elisha (male) age 9 b. Indiana, Jesse (male) age 8 b. Indiana, Lacy (female) age 7 b. Indiana, Isaac (male) age 2 b. Indiana
Also very nearby is a Stephen Mendenall (age 60), b. N.C., in
dwelling # 630, likely the father or at least a close relative of the wife of Isaac (Mendenall) Cox.
Living next door in the next dwelling, this Isaac Cox could easily be a relative of Rachael (Cox) and therefore a clue as to the identity of the Thomas Cox, the father of Rachael (Cox) Moffitt.
Cox Migrations as listed in the Holly Springs MM, N. Carolina.
Isaac Cox and family..... date 4-18-1835... to Sugar Creek MM, Indiana
This date fits perfectly with the birth dates and location of the children listed in the 1850 and 1865 census in Indiana.
Could Isaac Cox be a brother or perhaps a cousin to my elusive Thomas Cox , who died in 1845, Indiana. An Isaac Cox shows up on the auction of the personal belongings of the estate of Thomas Cox on December 30, 1845. See the notes for Thomas Cox (died November 1845) for details.
Isaac shows up on the 1850 census page 210 right beside David Moffitt and Rachael Cox, the parents of Mary Moffitt who married my elusive Thomas Cox who died in 1845. In 1850 census page 206 the widow Mary Cox is not far away with her five children William through to Hannah.
