A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, in Beaverton Christian Church for Rudy William Marek, who died March 26 at age 70.
Mr. Marek was born July 27, 1928, in St. Helens. He graduated from Scappoose High School in 1946 and was a policeman for the Portland Police Bureau for 28 years before his retirement in 1978. During the 1950s, he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He wrote "North to Alaska," a Christian testimonial work published by Creative Images, and gave historical presentations to schools in Portland and Washington County. He was also a hand engraver for Portland Memorial Cemetery for 37 years until about 1993. In 1951, he married Gloria May Anderson; they were later divorced.
Survivors include his sons, Tim of Beavercreek, Dean of Glide and Brian of Aloha; brothers, Bernard of Cedar Mill and Francis of Selah, Wash; sister, Genevieve Maguire of Portland; former wife, Gloria May Marek of Portland; and eight grandchildren.
Interment will be in Union Point Cemetery in Banks. The family suggests remembrances to the Washington County Hospice. Arrangements are by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Gloria (Anderson) Marek, personal knowledge. I telephoned Gloria Marek, Nov 30, 2003.. she says Rudy's father was Jeff and brother was Bernard.. (older brother), his mother died when Rudy was 16 . her name was Ella Havlik... The family came from Texas before moving to Oregon.
My mother brought us kids, Lawrence, LaVerne, and me to Portland in 1936 to live with my grandfather, Albert K. Dahlseide for awhile. We lived in Linnton Oregon and my grandfather worked at the Clark and Wilson Lumber Mill.
My Uncle William Dahlseide had only one son. His name is Ronald Dahlseid. (he dropped the e on the end of his name, I think).

Funeral Mass for Jeff L. Marek, who died Tuesday in a Portland area hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Church. He was 77.
Born in Granger, Texas, Mr. Marek came to Portland 55 years ago. He worked as a machinist for Multnomah County.
Surviving are his wife, Rose; sons, Bernard and Francis, both of Portland, and Rudy of Banks; daughter, Genevieve McGuire of Portland, brother, Louis of Temple, Texas; sister, Mary Kubala of Taylor, Texas, and 15 grandchildren.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum.

Memorial services for Rose Irene Marek, a retired schoolteacher, were held Saturdy. disposition was to be by crypt interment. She died Wednesday in a Portland hospital. She was 77.
Mrs Marek was born in Hopkins, Minn. She taught school in North Dakota and in the David Douglas School District for more than 25 years. She had lived in the Portland area since 1942.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Genevieve McGuire of Portland; stepsons, Francis Marek of Savannah, Ga., Benard Marek of Beaverton and Rudy Marek of Banks; a brother , Emil J. Neubauer of Portland; a sister, Lilly Ann Herd of Portland; 15 grand-children and 10 great-grandchildren.
