Geat to hear from you..........part of the confusion is that The Dobbyn line loved the names "Richard & William"........also the fact that some people in those days would name a baby a certain name and if that child died, they would name subsequent children that same name until they got one that lived......and that happened alot in the Dobbyn line.
My father was William Richard Dobbyn, born 22 August 1903 in Minneapolis, MN.
His father was William Richard Dobbyn,(W.R.) born 10 Feb. 1855 in Illinois.(now there is a dispute as to the year 1855 or 1850). I'm going by the DOB listed on his death certificate which I have.
His father was William Dobbyn, born 25 February 1824 in Canada and whose first wife was Franceanna Davis, mother of W.R. Dobbyn.
His father was Richard Dobbyn, was born 22 February 1794 in Wexford, Ireland.
My grandfather did spend some time in Canada during which time he started the independent journel, The Chatham Tribune, around 1880.
