HARVEY WILCOX
DIES IN HOME

Former Lumber Dealer Here
Stricken Unexpectedly

Harvey J. Wicox, 72, retired
businessman and lumberman, died
unexpectedly at 4:05 a.m. today in
his home, 1303 St. Clair street.
Born, Jan 14, 1873, in Greenwood
Township, he was a resident here
since 1920, and formerly lived near
Yale.
Mr. Wilcox retired and sold the
Wilcox Lumber Company in 1945
because of poor health.
He had complained Monday of a
severe pain in his head while work-
ing around his yard.
Mr. Wilcox was the first president
of the Blue Water Sportsman's as-
sociation and was on of the pio-
neers and founders of the club.
He served as president from 1937
through 1945. At the end of his
presidency, he was named president
emeritus.
"The Blue Water Sportsmans
association feel a keen personal
loss of its first president and the
club directors will hold a special
meeting to adopt suitable resolu-
tions" said Arthur M. Mann, pres-
ident.
Mr. Wilcox was one of the best
shots in the State on the skeet
range. He was an ardent hunter,
fisherman and conservationist.
He was a member of Brockway
lodge No. 316, F & A. M., Yale;
Yale chapter No. 64 OES; Galilee
shrine No. 7, W.S. of J. and Noruh
Grotin.
He is survived by his widow,
Mrs. Victoria M. Wilcox, Port
Huron, a daughter, Mrs. Leslie J.
Whale, Detroit; several grandsons;
a step-daughter, Mrs. John A.
Moore and two steo-sons, Floyd L.
and Cecil W. Mortimer, all of Port
Huron; two sister, Mrs. Robert
Palmateer, Yale, and Mrs. Joe Holt,
Turner, Ore.; an uncle, Fred Wil-
cox, Port Huron, and three
nephews, Chester Palmateer, Yale,
and Richard and Melvin Holt, both
of Turner, Ore.
The remains are in the Albert A.
Falk & Son funeral home where
funeral services will be held at
2:30 p.m. Thursday with Dr. W. C.
S. Pellowe, pastor of First Metho-
dist church, officiating.
Burial will be in Yale Cemetery.
