In regards to the John Angus Hackett that passed away in British
Columbia, I ordered his Death Certificate a couple months ago, and his
name was listed as John Angus Cameron Hackett, living at 935 Drake St in
Vancouver, and he had been in British Columbia for 27 years, which would
make it about 1924, which would be about right. I also can find no
record of where they were in 1910 (maybe back in Canada), and the 1930
Census lists Elizabeth A. Hackett living with her Sister Victoria
Mortimer, and it lists Elizabeth as Divorced and Victoria as Widowed.
The Death Certificate further states he was a Ship's Carpenter - Self
Employed, which would match the 1894 Michigan State Census that lists him
as a Ship Caulker. The Death Certificate lists his Father as Hackett,
Not Known, and his Mom as Cameron, Not Known, that he was born in
Ontario, that his wife's maiden name at the time of his Death was
Elizabeth Wilkinson (this threw me for a loop at first), and he was
buried June 20, 1951 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver. It would
seem as though I found the right relative there, but would like to find
more documentation that this indeed is the right person. I am not sure
that my Dad ever met his Grandfather, as Dad was born in 1924, and if
this is the right person, it is very probable they never met.
