1 Dahlseide, Kari, obituary, 1920, Northwood Anchor, Worth County, 21st April, 1920. :
21 April 1920 - Northwood Anchor --- DAHLSEIDE - One of Worth County's oldest pioneers, Mrs. Kari Dahlseide, a resident of Worth County since 1856, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Berge, of Ypsilanti, ND, Monday morning, 12 April 1920. She suffered an attack of pneumonia about 4 weeks prior to her death and apparently succesfully passed the crises, but she was not able to regain her strength. She had, for a number of years, been afflicted with asthma and though active and able to be about and lend assistance when help was needed, her vigor and strength had been gradually failing her for some time. When news of her serious illness reched her daughter, Mrs. Emil Iverson, she hastened to her mother's bedside, and remained to help and care for her and comfort her until her death.
The earthly remains were brought to Northwood to be interred by the side of her husband in Concordia Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Torgerson and were held at the Shell Rock Church at 11 a.m. and at the Concordia church at 2 p.m. on Friday, 16 April 1920. The large attendance of friends and relatives at these services, as well as the beautiful floral offerings, bespeak the high esteem, in which she was held by the many who had profited by her acquaintance.
Mrs. Kari Paulson Dahlseide was born, 22 Dec. 1847 in Aals Parish, Hallingdal, Norway. With her parents: Mikkel Paulson and wife Turi, she came to this country and settled in Worth County in 1856. On the 16th of April, 1865, she married Knut Johnson Dahlseide, with whom she lived a happy wedded life until his death 13 years ago. This marriage was blessed with a number of children of which some died in their infancy, while six: Martin, Albert, Carl, Dena, Alma and Mabel survive her. For a number of years they lived on a farm in Hartland Township, near the Shell Rock Church. In 1886, they sold this farm and moved to Bristol township, where they bought the farm now occupied by the oldest son, Martin.
Through her long life, Mrs. Dahlseide was a faithful and descerning member of the conservative branch of the Lutheran Church. To her, the inspired word of God was "sweeter almost than honey and the honeycomb." Her place of devotion were searched daily for guidance and instruction and consolation. Enlightened by this life, giving word, she found in God, her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble overcame the fear of death and lovingly looked forward to her journeys end.
"So fades a summer cloud away, so sinks the gale when storms are o'er; So gently shuts the eyd of day, so dies a wave along the shore."
