Childs: Jack Wayne.
Passed away peacefully at the Cowichan Extended Care Hospital on Cairnsmore Street on December 31, 2004. Born on January 2, 1940 in Edmonton, Alberta. Jack moved his family to the Cowichan Valley in 1974 and worked at the Crofton Pulp and Paper Mill until he retired in 2000. Jack suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with cancer in March 2004. After the stroke, Jack resided at the Cowichan Lodge and the Extended Care on Cairnsmore Street. Jack is survived by sons, Doyle (Pam), Darren (Karen), Lance, Dean (Reshmi), Dana (Brenda), and step sons David and Jimmy. Jack is also survived by his brother James, his cousin Bob (Cindy) and several grandchildren. Jack was an avid movie and sports fan. He loved the Edmonton Eskimos, the Edmonton Oilers and almost all movies. Jack’s dream was to own a video store or movie theatre. In 1987 he opened Jack’s Beta Theatre. In Jack’s perfect world, the Eskimos and Oilers would win every game and every family would have a ‘beta-max’. Jack along with his family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Cairnsmore as well as the staff at Cowichan Lodge. Your efforts are most greatly appreciated and we certainly can not thank you enough. A memorial service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel , 187 Trunk Road, Duncan BC at 2pm on Wednesday, January 5th, 2005 with a reception to follow. Please come and share your stories with us.
