Dear James,

I came across your site last night, with the family tree of John Duggan and
descendants of Cork and Toronto. I am also a descendant of this family,
and would love to be in correspondence with the person who gave you the
information.

I am a descendant of Mary Ann Duggan, daughter of John and Mary Duggan, who
married Thomas Richard Brooke (I have a transcription of their marriage
record from The Colonial Advocate Thursday, March 16, 1826:
"Marriage: b) 'At York, on the 18th ult., by the Rev. Dr. Phillips, Richard
Brooke, Esq. to Mary Ann, daughter of Lieut. John Duggan, of Yonge Street.'" )

Mary Ann is not listed in your Duggan tree as a daughter of John Duggan,
but the above proves that she is. My great-great-grandmother's obituary
(she was Mary Ann Brooke who married Alfred Watts) also states she was: "a
daughter of Capt. Thomas R. Brooke, retired British army officer, and his
wife, Mary Ann Duggan, sister of George Duggan, one of the first judges in
the Queen city."

My work on the Brooke family, a large part of it accomplished with the aid
of Brooke researcher Brooke Hunter, also shows a marriage between Thomas
Richard's younger brother, Lambert Ferguson Brooke, and Anne Duggan in 1833
at Ancaster. This would appear to be (in your tree) the marriage of John's
daughter Ann and "Dan" Brooke. I did not know Anne's parentage until I
read of it on your site, so this was welcome news. It thus appears that
sisters Ann and Mary Ann Duggan married brothers Thomas Richard and Lambert
Ferguson Brooke.

I would be happy to share what else I have on the Duggan family. I believe
that John and his brothers George and Thomas are all children of Cuff and
Mary Duggan of Mallow, Cork, Ireland.
