General Notes:
James Cameron Waters took the name of Dun-Waters as a result of his inheritance of the Dunn estate. The requirement to take the name of Dunn as set out in the will prompted James to combine the two names. The confusion of his new name in the years to come produced numerous spelling variations both in the press and on official documents.

Dun Waters was born on 28 November, 1864 at Torquay, England and educated at Jesus College, Cambridge, Except for periods of residence at Cambridge, Shropshire, and participation in the Great War, his Scottish upbringing predominated his life in the homeland and in the Okanagan Valley. He grew up on his family's estate at Fintry, Stirlingshire and he inherited his wealth from their land estate and his family's business.
