James Cameron Waters took the name of Dun-Waters as a result of his inheritance of the Dunn estate. The requirement to take the name of Dunn as set out in the will prompted James to combine the two names. The confusion of his new name in the years to come produced numerous spelling variations both in the press and on official documents.
