James Dunn McReynolds was born in Ballynargan on Mar.1, 1856, and was christened in Coagh Presbyterian Church on Oct.18, 1857. He is listed in the 1871 Census of Canada as a 13-year-old living with his parents in Innisfill Township, Ontario, Canada. On Dec.25, 1880, at the age of 21, he married Margaret Whipps (aged 22) of Orillia. She was Baptist and he was Primitive Methodist. Margaret was the daughter of a pioneering Orillia farmer Thomas Whipps (from England) and his wife Elizabeth Picken (born in Ireland). The Whipps had earlier had a cartage business in Whitby, Ontario, where Margaret was born. James became qualified at some point as a Stationary Engineer Second Class and operated the electric power plant in Orillia. Margaret died in Orillia on Nov.16, 1904. James Dunn remarried in Toronto about 1911, to Minnie Webber, a widow. Minnie had two sons, one named Ken, who adopted the name McReynolds. Minnie died about 1918 and James about 1923. The children of James and Margaret McReynolds:
Sarah Elizabeth McReynolds was born in 1881 in Orillia and married George Ritter. She died childless in Toronto in 1963.
Thomas McReynolds was born in 1883 in Orillia died that same year.
William James McReynolds was born in 1885 in Orillia and married Ina Evelyn Tuttle. They had six children, two of whom are alive in 2000. William James died in Toronto in 1972. The only child to pass along the McReynolds name was Thomas George McReynolds (1910-1944) who was survived by Dorothy Joan, Linda Ruth and William Peter McReynolds (who provided much of the information on this Canadian branch).
Mabel McReynolds was born in 1893? in Orillia, did not marry and died in Toronto in 1917.
