bullet  Research Notes:

____________________________________________

As of December 10, 2004, I suspect that George Allsop may have been born as George Parker, prior to the marriage of William Allsop and Sarah Parker in 1863... A birth registration for a George Parker, born 1862, registration district of Worksop, is presently on order from the GRO..

Jan 13, 2005, received birth registrationfor George Parker, 14th October, 1862. mother was Sarah Parker , but no father mentioned. This is prior to the marriage of William Allsop and Sarah Parker in 1863.

The 1871 and the 1881 census records show George Allsop as the grandson living with John and Mary A Tomlinson. As is now clear, George Allsop was born George Parker in 1862 to a single mother Sarah Parker who later married William Allsop in 1863.

_____________________________________________________
Dec, 2004
I conducted a thorough check of the GRO indexes , looking for a birth of George Allsop born between 1861 and 1865 registered in Worksop, Notts without success.

In desperation , looked for registration of George Parker and found:

" George Parker, registered December quarter, 1862 in Worksop, volume 7b, page 26"

This registration should be purchased to check on parentage. Judging by the age of George Allsop on both the 1871 (age 8) and the 1881 census ( age 18) while he was living with John and Mary Tomlinson, this would be a good match. ordered: Dec 10, 2004
jca

April 2005, It is now evident that Mary A Tomlinson was the grandmother of George Parker (or George Allsop) as Mary Ann was previously married to William Allsop (married 1838) when she was Mary Ann Lilley.
