bullet  Research Notes:

December 26, 2002, Mrs Katherine Dyson recalls that she was told that her father's name was like a brand of cigarettes of the time.. A bit of research pointed to the brand "MURAD Cigarettes" from 1915-1920, described as THE Turkish Cigarette. see web site at:
http://pelorus.scriptmania.com/cig/cmurad1.htm for very nice examples of their art forms.

A search of the 1901 census records in England turned up no results for the name Murad and only 1 person named Morad. We are now eagerly awaiting the release of the 1911 census.

August 22, 2010
With some great persistance, the 1911 census finds our "Fred Morrad", single, male age 36, born Germany and occupation Baker , living at the same address as given on the marriage registration of Fritz Morad and Alice Allsop on their 1912 marriage.. as 195 St. George Street, St. George in the East , London..

I will try and find more about the family in the new year. I have always thought that grandmother's maiden name was Randal or Randall. Grandfather was a Rhinelander, I believe, but I don't think my mother ever knew whether he was from the German or the French side. He seemed to like the idea of being which ever of the two nationalities suited at the time. His surname was Morad. He seems to have used Fritz, Francois or Francis as first names. I have never known Alice as "Allsop", but only ever heard her referred to as Alice Randal, Alice Randal Morad or Alice Morad, except that I believe she remarried when she went to USA, but I do not recollect the name of the man she married. I shall let you know as and when I discover more.
Best wishes to you all from the family here for Christmas and 2003.

ordered from GRO 27 August, 2010... lets hope.... jca
Note: that this is the same year that Alice Morad left England and arrived in Canada. It was always thought that
the Alice's move to Canada and the USA may have been preceded by the death of her husband Frederick. jca
