General Notes:
The Chilancoh Ranch is located about 29 miles West of Alexis Creek on a side access road . Not on the main highway to Bella Coola. On the property is a private registered burial plot for the family.
The ranch was previously owned by the Reg Newton and was known as the Newton Ranch. When Reg died, this wife left the ranch to relations Edward and Edmond Hutton. Edward drowned in Punzi Lake and Edmond died in the early 1920s. Reg Newton was an uncle of Dorothy (Dyson) Bayliff. Dorothy's mother Florence Newton died in British Columbia as well. Apparently Dorothy Dyson came out to visit her uncle Reginald Newton and ended up marrying Gabriel Thomas Lane Bayliff in 1923.
Further research found that Dorothy came to Canada on the Empress of France (Liverpool - Quebec) departing Liverpool on 6 Oct, 1921 and came over with her father Louis Morgan Dyson, mother Florence Julia Dyson and brother John Holroyd Dyson. jca
