H. Windle, Klondike Pioneer Died Here Last Tuesday
Harry Walshe Windle, 64, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox, May 17. Mr. Windle was born in India and came to the province from England in 1886 where he joined the staff of the Bank of B.C. in Vancouver. He was transferred to the San Francisco branch of the bank and married Miss Eileen Austin in that city in 1892.
Mr. Windle left the employ of the bank to hazard the dangers of the Klondike during the gold rush. After several visits to England, he came to this district to reside with his son H. W. Windle jr. in Nov 1931.
Besides his widow, he leaves to mourne his loss a daughter, Miss C G Handcock of England, two sons, Harry W jr. of Sandwick and Allen of India and a grandson.
Funeral will be held Friday from the undertaking parlours of J. Sutton and son, Courtenay, to the Anglican Cemetery , Sandwick, Rev. G. L. Bourdillon officiating. No flowers by request.
