(note Erskine, Keith David, born India, attending "Charterhouse" in 1881 living in same "Sandy Lane" as an Arthur Dyson and George William Dyson , both born in Huddersfield. verrrrry interesting......
I think we should learn more about this Arthur and George William Dyson from Huddersfield....

August 2006,
'Charterhouse' is my old school so have been in touch with the registrar.

George William Dyson and his two brothers Arthur and Thomas were sons of George Dyson, solicitor, of Netherton between Huddersfield and Wakefield in Yorkshire. The 1881 census states him as being 48 and born at Netherton but the 1871 census says 32 born Almondbury nr Huddersfield. He married Jane Laycock in June Qtr 1862 (IGI/1837.com). I have not so far found a convincing birth as there are a large number of Georges born around Huddersfield at the relevant time.
Also at Charterhouse around the same time were Reginald, George and Charles, sons of Hiram Dyson, woollen manufacturer of Netherton. Hiram is listed in 1881 as age 43 born Huddersfield and from the IGI was born at Quarmby cum Lindley (a suburb of Huddersfield) 1837 son of Joseph and Hannah.
It is tempting to see George and Hiram as brothers but I have not been able to find a suitable birth for George.
None of this brings us any nearer a link with 'our' Dysons and the fact that Keith Erskine was at school with these Dysons is probably mere coincidence. Best wishes, Alan Hughes
