"Benjamin Jacobus Van de Water

Born in Rotterdam in 1622 to Jacobus and Nelletje van Drillenburgh of Gelderse (near Utrect). He became a merchant in Amsterdam. He married Elizabeth de Meersman on January 27, 1642.

Their children were:

1. Jacobus
2. Pieter
3. Johannas
4. Abraham
5. Maria

Benjamin left Amsterdam for America in 1651. He purchased property there with the intention of sending for his family to make a new life for them in America. Benjamin died January 13, 1653 in New Amsterdam. Following his death, Elizabeth married Walewijn van der Veen.

Elizabeth and her three sons came to New Amsterdam to settle the estate. During the next twenty to thirty years Elizabeth made several trips between America and the Netherlands caring for her children in both places."

Benjamin married Elizabeth de Meersman on 27 Jan 1642.¹
