The parish registers of Delting, Shetland would indicate that Mary Mowat, (Mouat) was older than she claimed to be at her wedding to David Calder in 1857. She claimed to be age 28 however, the church record of her christening in 1822 would indicate that she would be about age 34-35.
Unless, of course that the 1822 Mary died early and our Mary Mowat was named Mary in her memory, however, the christening of Peter Mouat in 1828 might preclude our Mary to have this later birthdate. jca
