Ethel Gardner Thompson

  General Notes:

Ethel Thompson (Mrs L E Guilford) resided at 168 Marion St. Springfield Mass. during the last years of her life. Ethel was blind ( at what age is unknown) and reported to have had a weak heart from birth. She moved with her grandparents ( James Thompson) to New York when she was around six ( the 1881 census records have her living in St. John with her parents at the age of five). The family returned to Saint John eighteen years later, where Ethel spent her honeymoon seeing her immediate family for the first time. She noted in a letter that the Thompson family can be traced back for fifteen generations and are of Scottish, Irish, and English decent. She said that Sir Julian Pounceforas (sp?) was ambassador to this country (USA ?) from the Court of St. James. Sir George Thompson was his grandfather. Ethel said that her great, great grandfather was born in Ireland.
