P.S. I was out doing an early morning cemetary search (as its blazing hot here and the mornings are cooler) and came across an interesting stone. It was a small stone across the the top slab (not the face) was the name Elison, on the face it read Wife of J. Winch Jan. 17, 1845, Dec. 23, 1875 I believe this could be James' wife Allison Douglas,
next to it was this stone..
Robert Douglas Dec. 8, 1828, April 16, 1909, Eliza wife Sept. 13, 1829, Ayg. 6, 1912. Could they be her parents? That was the only Winch stone in the whole cemetary. I wonder where James got off to? It was a nice find because I wasn't expecting to find any Winch's there, I was looking for my grandmothers ancestors hehehe.... I'll have to send this tidbit on to June also.

I found it in Basey Cemetary. It is in Martin county Minnesota ( of course) Nashville Township. Its only about 5 miles from the Nashville cemetary where all the other Winches are buried except James Sr. I'm off this morning to look for him.

Hi James, On Saturday while attending my Ehlers family reunion at my Aunt Eunice....on my dad's side of the tree..we (my aunt Eunice and myself) were discussing genealogy, and I had mentioned that I had noticed in my grandmother Ehlers Personius tree one of the Personius men had married a women by the name of Emma Douglas, who's parents were Robert and Eliza Douglas, and that I had found that a James Winch in my family had married a women by the name of Elison Douglas, who I had just found at the Basey Cemetery, could it be I asked tht they were sisters? Well my Aunt is heavy duty into genealogy prolly as much as you cousin James. Anyway she said yes they are sisters! And she has proof of it.

5 Winch, James Robert, obituary, 1940, Fairmont Sentinal, 1940. :
JAMES ROBERT WINCH

Rev. W. O. Johnson conducted funeral services Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the Truman Baptist Church for James Robert Winch who died at his home last Friday following a lingering illness from cancer. Burial was at Nashville cemetery.
James Robert Winch son of James and Elsie Winch, was born on may 28th, 1865 in Nashville township, and passed away at his home in Truman at 11:30 a. m. April 26, 1940 after a lingering illness of cancer at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 28 days.
On December 22, 1888, he was united in marriage to Cora Adelia Herrick, at the bride's home in Nashville township by Rev. W,. Bacon, an uncle of Mrs. Winch. To this union were born twelve children, nine of whom survived their father, namely Lee, Burt, Elsie (Mrs. Elmer Sackett), Jay, Orrie, all of Truman, Ina (Mrs. Roy Sugar) of Donaldson, Everett, Paul and Robert also of Truman. One daughter and two sons died in infancy. After their marriage they farmed in Nashville and later near Amboy until Mr. Winch became lineman for the telephone company and they took charge of
the central office at Nashville Center. In 1918 they moved to Truman, where Mr. Winch became lineman for the local telephone company and continued until his retirement.
When a young man he united with the Baptist Church at Nashville and in 1918 when they moved to town, he united with the Community Baptist Church in Truman, where he was elected to the board as deacon of this church until the time of his death, a period of over 20 years. Shortly after moving to town he also became custodian of the church building and served faithfully and well in that capacity until illness made him give up that work a little over a year ago. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for a number of years while the lodge at Truman was in existence and served in various offices in that lodge. He will be missed greatly by his many friends in Truman, and by his church where he served so long and faithfully. Leaving to mourn his passing besides his widow and nine children, are 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother Wally Winch of Bemidji, one sister, Mrs. Anna Schribner of Staples and one half brother, John Winch of Truman. Besides these there are a large number of neices and nephews, many other more distant relatives and a host of friends.
