Aurdal, (hard to read ) seems to be recorded by the church later in 1827 __________________________________________________   Research Notes: Question: Is the location of Vardal, Oppland, Norway, in the same vicinity as Sør-Aurdal, Oppland , Norway. ?? Jacob Nielsen was married in Vardal and had at least 5 children there. The outgoing parish record that I found was from South (Sør) Aurdal, Oppland, Norway. Are they the same place ?? If not how far apart.?? Does perhaps the term "Vardal" encompass both Nord-Aurdal and Sør-Aurdal?? In the 1865 census, Vardal is shown quite seperately from Norde and Søndre Aurdal. so appears to be different location in Oppland. In 1801 census, Vardal seems to be spelled Wardal and Aurdal is spelled Ourdahl but the census area numbers match for both census takings .. That is Vardal is area 527 while Aurdal or Ourdahl is area 540. It would seem that Vardal and the two Aurdal (North and South) are not the same place in Oppland. Could it be that Jacob Nielsen exiting the parish of Sør-Aurdal in 1826 is not the same person as getting married and fathering at least 5 children in Vardal?? If this isnt the same person , then the christening record that I have for Jacob Nielsen in Nord-Aurdal in 1791 would not be applicable. How would Jacob Nielsen be christened in Nord-Aurdal in 1791, get married and raise a family in Vardal in 1817-1828 and show up exiting the Sør-Aurdal parish records in 1826?? and then show up in Sondre-Land in 1826 as in incoming parish record? One would think that if Jacob Nielsen (the husband of Marthe Hansdatter) came from outside of the parish (which does seem to be the case) he should have exited the Vardal parish records not the Sør-Aurdal parish records in 1826. Also, if he entered the Sondre-Land parish in 1826 how can the christening record of Marthe Jacobsdatter in 1828 in Vardal co-exist?
