According to family members (Mrs. Darlene Melrose of Maymont Sask) , Hugh Harkness immigrated to Canada about 1910 and then returned to Ireland and came back to Canada about 1918 as his son Alexander Crawford Harkness was 2 years old at the time. His wife Margaret apparently died in Ireland before Hugh came to Canada. jca

Margaret Elizabeth Reid said that the Harkness family came from the village of Ballymoney. (as per interview, Sept 25, 2002)
