HARKNESS- Alexander, Crawford, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 16, 1991, at age 75. He is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude; 2 sons, Bob (Cathie) and David (Barb); 4 grandchildren. Alex was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Squamish Valley Golf and Country Club.
Following cremation, a Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 26 at 2 p.m. at the First Memorial Services Chapel, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver, B.C. Donations to M.S. Society of B.C. gratefully appreciated.

HARKNESS - THE DEATH OF MR. Hugh Harkness, age 87 years of 311 20th Street, East, Saskatoon and longtime resident of Maymont occurred in a local hospital on May 16, 1967. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home conducted by Capt. L.E. Armistead. Surviving are: three sons, John of New Westminster, Crawford of Garibaldi Highlands and Hugh of North Vancouver; two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Reid (Maria) of Maymont and Mrs. Norman Melrose (Grace) of Maymont; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Harkness was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1917 and by a son, Jim, in 1923. Born in Ireland, Mr. Harkness came to Canada in 1910. In 1912 he settled in Maymont where he owned and operated a blacksmith shop for 50 years. For the past 5 years he had resided in Saskatoon. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
