RE: Borradaile research
Two developments:
I’ve been able to get in touch with – and visit- Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, so have been able to establish the following details about Richardson Borradaile, his wife Emma and two of their daughters:
Richardson died, aged 66, at Coburg, Ontario on 8 April 1900.
Emma died, asged 62, on 13 October 1896 Unfortunately, the base of the stone on her side is completely weathered.
Frances Chatterton Borradaile (unknown to me) died, aged 7 years (and ?8 months) on 29 May 1891 at ?A… Mines.
Edith Borradaile died, aged 18, on 9 March 1880.

Lt Richardson Borradaile (Borradaile 101) (born in 1834 where?; died after 1881) married to Emma Jane Nicklin (born when?; died when?; she seems to be buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa) in 1856 in Bengal.

1881 Canadian census?
Later census? Emigrated to Canada.

Ada Jane Borradaile (Borradaile 101.1) (born abt 1860 at Brussels; died in 1913 where?) married to Clarence Campbell Chipman (born on day 24-5-1856 at Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada; died on day 13-2-1924 in Leamington Spa) abt 1882 where? They had seven children:

Hamilton Borradaile Chipman (born on 5-2-1885 in London; died abt 1959 In Winnipeg) married to Mabel Honora Turney (born abt 1889; died when?) in 1920.
Edith Borradaile Chipman (born in 1886 in London; died in 1928 where?) married to Peter Van Den (born abt 1887; died when?) when?
Dorothy Borradaile Chipman (born in 1887 in Ottawa; died in 1922 where?) married to Roswell Colt (born abt 1887; died when?) in 1909.

George Betts Borradaile (Borradaile 101.2) (born when? where?; died before 1916?) married to Lilla Amy Hudson of Calgary (born abt 1861 in Swanage, Dorset; died after 1916) on day 19-9-1887 at Christ Church, Winnipeg. She is the daughter of the late John Hudson of Ipswich.
This and other reports in the Manitoba Daily Free Press, published in Winnipeg, suggest the following: in 1887 he was working in the Dominion Intelligence office; he served with the Northwest Mounted Police in the Northwest Territories; by 1891 he was resident in Saltcoats, ?Manitoba. He is also mentioned in the Manitoba Morning Free Press of 1-6-1895 in a report of a match held by the Fort Garry Gun Club. His wife is mentioned in the report in the same newspaper of the official reception at Government House, Winnipeg on 1-1-1894.
They had at least one child, the Oscar-winning cinematographer Osmond Hudson Borradaile (born on 17-7-1898 at Winnipeg; died on 23-3-1999 at Lions Gate Hospital, Noth Vancouver), given that his mother’s name on Osmond’s birth certificate and his army attestation of 1-12-1916 is Lilla (Amy). His memoirs are Life Through A Lens (2002), edited by his daughter Anita (born when?) married when? to Michael Hadley, who lives in Victoria, BC, Canada.
Osmond served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1.

Francis Borradaile (Borradaile 101.5) (born when? where?; died when?). Is he perhaps the Francis Harry Borradaile married in the June quarter of 1884 or in the June quarter of 1899 at St George’s Hanover Square?

Arthur Lionel Tobin Borradaile (Borradaile 101.6) (born abt 1873 where?; died on day 2-8-1899 at Winnipeg). He is listed on the 1898 British Columbia voters list as a clerk, resident at Kaslo.
