William and his family seems to have immigrated to the US from Canada after the 1861 Canadian census, as they are not found on the 1870 or 1880 Canadian census. Also, as per the 1900 census record statement of William's youngest son Noble Wright in Michigan, Noble says HIS son Noble was born in Illinois which fits the 1880 census where the father Noble is found in Cook County census. On the 1910 census, Noble Wright in Chicago indicates an immigration date of 1865 as well. On the 1920 census, Noble Wright shows an immigration date of 1864 however.

Another son of William: Enos Wright , residence in Cook County, Illinois states that he immigrated from Canada in 1865 as per the 1930 census of Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois.

Another son of William: Silas Wright, indicates on the 1910 census, of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, that he immigrated from Canada in 1862, however , other census takings showed different dates.
