Gerham Wright ^{1,4,5,14,15,16,17,18,19}

  General Notes:

The death registration of Gerham Wright in 1933 in Peterborough Ontario, indicated that he was born in Alliston, Ontario, to parents William Wright and and Ellen Clegg. This turns out to be in the County of Simcoe, which is west of Toronto. A search of the 1861 census records of Simco County finds the family of William and Elleanor Wright with a good number of children including a "Germe" Wright and his siblings. This family was not re-located with extensive research of the Canadian Census in the years of 1871, 1881 and 1891. The search moved to the United States where extensive evidence that the family immigrated to the state of Illinois in the the US around 1865. A search for a mid 1880's birth of our Joseph Noble Wright has yet to be be successful.

Joseph appears in Canada for the first time on the 1901 census of Peterborough , where he is living with his father , his step-mother Isabelle (Roadhouse) Wright and her family by her previous husband Stephen Roadhouse at the address of 302 Louis Street, which matches the address given on his 1914 WW1 attestation papers. His father and step-mother live there at that address at least until the father's death in 1933 , which is backed up by the census takings of 1911 and 1921.

Note that on the 1861 census of Tosorontio twp, Simcoe county, along with the family of William and Eleanor Wright and their 6 children (including Germe Wright, age 11) there is a person named Noble Wright, age 25, living with the family and is described as not being a family member. This is can not surely be a co-incidence and this indicates some kind of a family connection to our Joseph Noble Wright) Noble Wright has his own farm in Mono, Ontario on the 1871 census, which is not very far away from Tosorontio twp. jca Unfortunately, the 1861 census for Tosorontio twp is very faint and hard to read. jca

Gerham married Elizabeth Casey, daughter of Casey and Unknown, on 19 Feb 1873 in Cook County, Illinois.¹³ (Elizabeth Casey was born about 1851 in England ¹⁸.)

Gerham next married Isabella White, daughter of William White and Isabella McRae, on 15 Apr 1899 in Peterborough, Ontario.¹⁴ (Isabella White was born on 29 Nov 1857 in Ontario,^4,21 died on 3 Jan 1928 in Peterborough, Ontario ²² and was buried on 5 Jan 1928 in Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario ²².)
