Thomas Bursell 2 (Gorwood 1, James)

Thomas was born June 25, 1844 in Beechridge, Quebec, Canada and he was 11 years old when he came to Minnesota. When he was 22 he married Alvira A. Brode on September 1866 in Fillmore Co., Minnesota. Alvira and her identical twin Melvira, were born February 9, 1850 in Illinois, to Jerimiah Brode a German man and Lucy Perkins. Thomas and Alvira had four children: Anna (Annie) Francis Bursell born 1867, Hattie B. Bursell born June 15, 1869, twins George F. Bursell, and Martha Bursell born 1875 all in Canton Township. The Thomas Bursell family lived on his father Gorwood's farm until the spring of 1898, when they moved to a farm in Ottertail County, Minnesota. Ottertail is about 250 miles northwest of Fillmore County.

In 1909 they moved to Spokane Washington. Thomas died at his farm home in Spokane on February 7, 1921, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane, Washington. Alvira returned to Prosper, Minnesota after Thomas died. Alvira died at the home of her daughter, Anna (Bursell) Winch in Prosper on September 11, 1928. She is buried with her husband in Spokane, Washington. The picture on the left shows Gorwood's three sons: William James (left) Thomas (center) and Gorwood R. (right).

Thomas married Alvira A. Brode, daughter of Jeremiah Brode and Lucy Perkins, on 22 Sep 1866 in Fillmore County, Minn..¹⁸⁸⁷ (Alvira A. Brode was born on 9 Feb 1850 in Pennsylvania ^{592,1696,1888} and died on 12 Sep 1928 in Prosper, Minnesota ⁵⁹².)
