SELMA C NEWBURG Selma C Newburg, 77, of R. 1, La Crosse, died Wednesday, May 1, 1996. She was born June 20, 1918, in the town of Washington, La Crosse County, to Henry and Mathea (Hovemone) Kalbakken. She was married to Earl Newburg April 18, 1952, by Father Pinion, in St. Joseph Ridge. Earl died June 3, 1994. The couple lived most of their married life on North Ridge. They moved to Mormon Coulee in March, 1966. Selma worked for many years at Ridgeview Inn. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She very much enjoyed playing cards. Survivors include two daughters, Bettina (Gerald) Fiers of la Crosse and Karen (Roger) Hundt of Coon Valley; a son, Robert (Veronica) of La Crosse; and four grandchildren, Patrick, Jeffrey, Trisha and her fiancé Tom Leis, and Blythe. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence in 1965 and Helmer " Ham" in 1969. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 1996, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Coon Valley. Father John McHugh will officiate, and burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, North Ridge. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Seland Funeral Home, Coon Valley, and from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
