ONALASKA, Wis. - Levi N. Dahlby, 85, of 463 Park Lawn Estates, Onalaska, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1986, in St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1900, in Mindoro, to Carl and Minnie (Larson) Dahlby.

He married Esther M. Olson on July 20, 1935, in La Crosse.

He was a farmer and operated a restaurant-tavern in the Ettrick area. He was a truck driver for Tausche's Hardwood in La Crosse for 20 years.

Survivors are his wife; a son, Richard, of La Crosse; two daughters, Lois Kathan of Onalaska and Cheryl Carrier of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Chester of Holmen and LeRoy of La Crosse; and two sisters, Marion Fauska of Kendall and Olga Musselman of Saskatchewan, Canada.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Denise in 1985, a sister and a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, La Crosse. The Rev. Vernon J. Rice will officiate. Burial will be in the South Beaver Creek Cemetery, Ettrick.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Fossum Funeral Home, Onalaska, and at the church Friday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Carl Dahlby Fatally Injured Friday

Carl E. Dahlby, the father of Mrs. Howard Westerhouse of this City, was instantly killed in a accident at Elroy, Wisconsin on Friday, when the large limb of a tree he was trimming struck him on the head.

With his son, Levi Dahlby of La Crosse, he had gone to the Melvin Fauska farm home at Elroy that morning to spend the weekend with his daughter, Mrs. Fauska and assist in the farm work while his son-in-law went deer hunting.
Mr. Dahlby was well known in Onalaska as he had been making his home with the Howard Westerhouse family here. Besides Mrs. Westerhouse and Mrs. Fauska he is survived by one other daughter, Mrs. Perry Musselman of Crystal Springs, Saskatchewan, Canada, and three sons, Levi and LeRoy of La Crosse and Chester of Galesville and one brother Ben of La Crosse, 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife and one son preceeded him in death.
Mr. Dahlby was born September 11, 1869 in Lewis Valley in La Crosse County and had been a resident in this vicinity for the greater part of his 72 years.
Funeral services were conducted at the Howard Westerhouse home at 1:30 o'clock and at the Norwegian Lutheran church by Dr. Carl O. Pederson at 2 o'clock. Mrs. John C. Westerhouse was the soloist. Pall bearers were Ed. Larson, Harry Schilling, Charles Hanson, George Peterson, Emil Christopherson and Warren Aiken. Internment under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home was made in the Onalaska cemetery.
