Are you able to confirm any or all of the above the above? I haven't spotted the deaths index entries of Alice or Frederick G nd wondered whether the latter died abroad? Death of an Alice was registered in Worthing in 1957, aged 79.
Going backwards is rather more speculative.
A birth 1858 4Q Charles Henry Stoner, Cuckfield and marriage 1888 2Q Charles Henry Stoner, Lewes look plausible, together with a death 1913 4Q Charles H Stoner aged 54 Cuckfield 2B174.
