I telephoned the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Toronto (416-483-4944) and had them search for the of Kathleen Duggan and found only one Kathleen Duggan, age 39, died aug 22, 1934, buried Aug 24, 1934 buried in lot 96 of a McDonald section with no other Duggan members in the section. The age of 39 does not match up with the reliable birth date of 1888 for Kathleen (Lynar) Duggan so this does not appear to be the cemetery record of our Kathleen Duggan. Also, there is no record in Mt. Hope or St. Michael's cemetery in Toronto for Charles Henry Duggan in the time frame of 1961-1962 or even close to it. Will now telephone Mt. Hope Cemetery for a search for a George Edward Duggan. jca

note by compiler .. the census taker on the 1901 census carefully wrote the name Charles "E" for both father and son as an correction. Later research of the marriage and birth registrations indicate the name should be Charles Henry. It is likely that the census taker mistakenly added the "E" to bother son and father. The father should have read "Duggan, Charles H" as in Charles Henry Duggan as the the baptismal record of his son Charles Edward Duggan in 1887 at St. James Anglican, Toronto.

It is a puzzle that although the 1901 census record for this family shows Charles E Duggan (as in Charles Edward Duggan) (for both father and son), the Ontario birth registration of Charles Duggan of exactly the correct date of Sept 12, 1887 shows as Charles Henry Duggan, and the father also Charles Henry Duggan. It was expected by the family that Charles Edward Duggan would be the correct name. Could there be an error on the birth record record in 1887?

The 1887 baptismal record from St. James Anglican Church in Toronto confirms that Charles was baptised as Charles Edward Duggan in 1887 now proving that the official Ontario govt. birth registration is in error.
