Although the birth registration of Kathleen Mary Esther Lynar indicates that her mother was named Marie Piyette, the name "Piyette" is not a reasonable Québecois name.. At the moment, at least, the name "Payette" would seem to be far more reasonable (and common) in Québec. jca.. December 23, 2002.

Finding the 1881 census record for our Marie Payette in Ontario has been without success... There is a Marie Piette age 26 in Berthier , Quebec however... Perhaps Marie was born in Quebec rather than in Ontario as stated on the 1901 census.

Note that the recently obtained 1916 marriage registration of Kathleen Lynar to Charles Edwin Duggan indicates that the maiden name of Kathleens's mother was Mary Freggette and this should be looked at further.. (jca Jan, 2007)
Further research was found to prove that the name was Fizette and that the name was well known from early Niagara on the Lake history. (Jan 20, 2007)
