Family Links Joseph Pickering 1 Born: Abt 1892, Weston in Runcorn, Cheshire, England 2   General Notes: February 28, 2006 Hello there, First, congratulations on a very interesting and informative website. There are several names that seem to indicate we are related to this branch of the Pickerings: My grandfather was Joseph Pickering, and is likely the one born in 1892. He died in Thunder Bay, Ontario in March 1964, in his 71\super st\nosupersub year, so 1892 is about right. His birthdate was November 11. He had an older brother named Harry who also lived in Thunder Bay, and if I remember, a sister Ellen who lived in Chicago. I remember visiting her as a boy when she was quite elderly and we were living in Chicago. There was another related Pickering called Jack who might be the one in White Rock, though the death date seems a bit early. Joseph was married to Florence Bennett, and they had two children who died at six months and about 2 ½ years, before my father, Kenneth Pickering, was born on May 7, 1924. Joseph and Florence sailed to Canada in 1918. Before that, Joseph worked on the boats in the Manchester Ship Canal, and lived/worked in Merseyside, Runcorn. I was under the impression that Joseph's father was born in Sheffield, and spent some time in the army, though I may be mistaken on either or both to these counts. I also seemed to recall that Joseph's grandfather was born in Perth, Scotland. Not sure what this means. I was born in Port Arthur, Ontario in 1949, have two younger brothers and one younger sister. I lived in Vancouver from 1978 to 2001, and as you can see by the address, now live a couple of hours south of Bangkok. If you would like to pursue this further, or if you have other information on the family, I would be interested in communicating with you.
