OBITUARY: Inez Adelie Anderson, The Kelowna Daily Courier, January, 4, 1999

INEZ ADELIE ANDERSON

Inez Adelie Anderson (nee Larson) passed away at the Three Links Manor care facility in Kelowna B.C. on December 31, 1998 at the age of 90. Inez was born on August 17, 1908 east of Holmen, Wisconsin in the village of Halfway Creek. Halfway Creek was a major centre for Norwegian emigrants in the previous century.
Inez's maternal grandparents Mathias Christiansen and Beathe Pedersdaughter came to Halfway Creek in 1881 from the towns of Vardal and Nes in Norway and her mother Malla Christiansen was born there in 1882. Inez's father Martin Larson was born in Hamilton township, near LaCrosse Wisconsin. Inez came to Canada in 1912 as a child with her parents and sister Bessie and under a sod roof and difficult conditions the young family proved out a homestead near Sturgis, Saskatchewan.
Inez married Earl Clinton Anderson on 4 May 1928 in Buchanan, Saskatchewan and lived near Preeceville and in Sturgis where they owned and operated a garage before moving to Flin Flon, Manitoba. The family then moved to Kelowna B.C. in 1946 with their sons Adrian and James where they purchased a house on Clement Avenue. Later, Earl and Inez built a new home on the bank of Mill Creek just south of what is presently the Capri Shopping Centre.
Inez was employed for many years at Sun-Rype Products Ltd. where in the early days of this company she was part of the team of women that manually fed the fast paced apple coring and slicing machines to produce dried apples. With the expansion of Sun-Rype she moved to the new juice processing plant, moving up through the ranks to a position as a lab technician. Her husband Earl was employed as a machinist and welder for Keloka Orchards, Kelowna Motors and later for the Petch brothers. Inez was predeceased by her husband Earl on 9 June 1986, sister Bessie Nerina Olson, brother Oliver Clifford Larson and leaves behind her two loving sons Adrian Earl of Calgary, Alberta and James Clinton of Kelowna. Inez is survived by one brother Warren Gordon Larson of Quesnel, B.C. and one sister Millie Louisa Nightingale of Hudson Bay, Sask. She also leaves three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Inez was the consummate mother who selflessly dedicated her entire life to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Three Links Manor who contributed greatly to her quality of life during her senior years.
May she rest in peace.
