Prior to Vernon L Anderson moving to Forget, Saskatchewan, Vernon was married to Ellen Gesine Dahlseide. They had three children, Lawrence, Laverne and Gloria. In 1936 their relationship broke up and Ellen and her three young children moved to Linnton (Portland) , Oregon where her father Albert K Dahlseide was living. It would seem that there was very little contact between Vernon Anderson and his first family after moving to Forget, Sask.

Alice's mother Rosanna (Levesque) Hebert married Vernon Anderson about 1973 or 1974 in Forget, Sask. Vernon had cared for her 1/2 section farm for many years before that, but couldn't marry Rosanna until the Catholic church changed their marriage policies regarding divorcees. The farm was located just 2 or 3 miles North of the town of Forget. The farm later won heritage recognition by being in the Hebert family since the 1920's.

Rosanna and her first husband Napolean Hebert had 7 children of their own, 5 girls and 2 boys. Rosanna's children were (in order) Rosalie, Yvonne, Maurice, Noel, Alice, Lauretta and Marie.

Napolean Hebert had died about 1941, prior to Vernon Anderson coming to help on the farm. Vernon had no family of his own in Forget, other than the seven of the Heberts. Alice (Hebert) Brown was 18 years old when she left the farm and got married. Alice doesn't remember any of Vernon's family coming to visit him, but remembers that Vernon had some photographs. Rosanna's daughter Lauretta was 17 years old when she left the farm to get married.

Vernon was pretty good with the family and worked hard around the farm but sometimes had trouble putting things back together after they were taken apart. The daughters also say that he had a "temper" at times.

Vernon and Rose loved to take part in old-time dances and used to get prizes for it.
The also played "Bingo" as much as 3 times a week after Vernon and Rose retired from the farm, when they moved into the village of Forget. After their retirement one of their pleasures was to walk the highway near Forget and collect bottles for the recycling refund. Vernon used to play his harmonica and a Jew's harp at the same time as he tapped out a rythym on a metal plate with sewing thimbles on his fingers.

Forget used to be a pretty good size town at one time with a Church, a Catholic Convent , stores and a garage but now it is much smaller in size with no rink or Hall. The Catholic Rectory has since been fixed up for entertainment.

Vernon died of pneumonia on December 26, 1982 in the Estevan Hospital and was buried in the small graveyard in Forget. Rosanna died in Oct 1998 at age 97, in Regina, Sask. at the Parkside Extended Care Hospital where she spent some 14 1/2 years. Rose is buried beside Vernon in the Forget Cemetery.

15 Gloria (Anderson) Marek, personal knowledge. I telephoned Gloria Marek, Nov 30, 2003.. she says Rudy's father was Jeff and brother was Bernard.. (older brother), his mother died when Rudy was 16 . her name was Ella Havlik... The family came from Texas before moving to Oregon.

My mother brought us kids, Lawrence, LaVerne, and me to Portland in 1936 to live with my grandfather, Albert K. Dahlseide for awhile. We lived in Linnton Oregon and my grandfather worked at the Clark and Wilson Lumber Mill.

My Uncle William Dahlseide had only one son. His name is Ronald Dahlseid. (he dropped the e on the end of his name, I think).
