Paul was six years old when he contracted spinal meningitis and was quarantined inside the home at 607 W. Providence, Spokane. with his mother. His sisters went to stay with relatives, while George lived in the closed-in back porch. Lydia passed his lunch through the kitchen window for him to take to work. After Paul died, the county health officer required that all of Paul's things be burned. Lydia hid his Mother Goose Book. She had to save something which had been his. I have it still.
